Quinta Avenida to the Rescue!

I absolutely loved the time I had here! I went to so many of the little boutiques and stores that it's hard to count. You can, literally, find everything you can imagine on this little pleasant promenade. The pharmacy is excellent, the dining is great, the clubs range from everything from the nicer end to the slightly less reputable. The atmosphere was great too! And as a kicker, you can enjoy the ocean air (which I swear has natural healing powers), or if you want the actual ocean, just walk one block down and, bam, you're already there!

The architecture and road work there is excellent as well. It's very much reminiscent of the scenery in Rome, Italy, if anyone has ever visited there. But the walkways are cobbled, and sometimes covered in a delightfully arcane material. The locals are pleasant, and aren't shy to talk to tourists. Although you do have to be careful of the thieves that are rumored to hang around the area.

All in all, a must visit place, if you are ever in Playa del Carmen. If you are more of a window shopper like me, I guarantee you'll enjoy quinta avenida. The atmosphere, the sheer number of locations to shop, the locals, and the dining will surely draw you in!
