On our last trip to Playa....June 2007, we rented a car and drove to Tulum. It was very relaxing and there are great spots along the way to stop and adventure. There are many cenotes (underground caves filled with water) along the way from Playa del Carmen to Tulum. Stop and enjoy. The kids will love exploring the cenotes! And when you get to Tulum.....you won't believe your eyes! Tulum is by far the most beautiful and tranquil place to go. The ocean and the beaches in Tulum are the most spectacular to date I have ever seen! (And I have been to many beaches around the world). I literally am in tears when it's time to leave the ocean and beaches of Tulum. Rent a car, take a short drive. Trust me, you won't regret it!
